From having travelled along the A65 from Leeds to Guiseley on Saturday night, I'd say there's still a lot of work being done on the access road down into the Kirkstall Forge development and laying down the utilities to serve the new housing. There's less of a rush for Kirkstall Forge, I suppose, until the new property is built and occupied.

Not wishing to trawl back through all the threads, may I ask if both Apperley Bridge station and Kirkstall Forge station will ever be served by the same service train, as someone in a telephone conversation last night said this was not likely to be the case.
Ive had a number of suggestions put forward for services but nothing in concrete yet.
Here are a few photos of Apperley Bridge. The Bradford bound platform looks usable but I have some doubts about any intention to open by the end of September despite the progress made on the ramp to the Leeds platform.

Im sure the Kirkstall Forge station will be served by the Leeds-Ilkley service, and the Apperley Bridge by the Leeds-Bradford service (Leeds-Skipton when the former isnt in service in the evenings).
So no service between the two, cant imagine many wanting to go from one to the other though.
Apperley Bridge station will be served by TLC Travel bus services.
Currently there is service 947 running between Bradford Forster Square station and Yeadon Westfield via Harrogate Road.
In addition, from Monday 28th September, TLC will introduce new services 948 and 949.
Service 948 will run just 3 times a day, with a journey from Bradford Interchange to Apperley Bridge at 07:10, Five Lane Ends to Apperley Bridge at 07:52 and Apperley Bridge to Five Lane Ends at 18:25 (all Monday to Saturday).
Service 949 will run hourly between 10:10 and 17:10 Mon-Sat as a circular service round Eccleshill from Apperley Bridge station via Harrogate Road, Bank, Faltis Square, Rowantree Drive, Rockwell Lane, Parkland Drive, Old Park Road, Orchard Grove, Harrogate Road and then back to the station.

Can't see the point of the 949 following that route unless it actually goes Harrogate Road, Victoria Road, Norman Lane, Bank, Faltis Square...

You might possibly get a few people walking the Leeds-Liverpool canal at the weekend, I suppose.
Re kirkstall forge, will there be foot access across the canal into Bramley Fall Park?
A friends house is actually on the map extract shown on page 16, and I hadn't realised how close (as the crow flies) she was to the new station.

Monday, the 28th of September has now arrived. What current news of train services for Apperley Bridge?
Is this going to be a similar repeat of the Bermuda Park and Ricoh Arena current fiasco?

Last week I asked the booking clerk at Guiseley when Apperley was likely to open. He said all they had been told was "sometime before Christmas"

I really wouldn't have thought to look under Calderdale for this! I'd have expected a mention in the Bradford section which only has some Winter Dalesbus changes:

Driving past the site earlier today I noticed the approach road seems to have its top surface on awaiting white-lining. Also there is now some swish station signage in place on the adjacent highway

I've just been past Apperley Bridge on the 15:26 Leeds-Skipton and the CIS on the eastbound platform was illuminated, presumably for testing. Could this be an indication of final preparations for opening. Both platforms now look close to being ready for use now.
Passing through Apperley Bridge yesterday, the eastbound platform looks to be all but ready now (the westbound has looked ready for a bit from what I can tell). All the fencing is in place, along with the ramps / platform surfaces. Of course there could still be work to do on the station approaches, but at a push I'd say expect it open very soon.
Having driven past earlier this week I should say the station approach looked ready-all the white lining seemed to be done. I didn't notice when I drove past but I met someone yesterday who claimed to have been delayed that morning because the traffic lights on the main road are now in use.

Are there any decent real-ale boozers near these new stations?
Had to drive past Apperley again today so stopped to have a nosey. Platforms all seem ready, car park finished and lined out, PI screens turned on and traffic lights to main road turned on.
Only work going on seemed to be some earthmoving/landscaping to the side of the car park, and some site huts still remain.
I suspect you could bring it into service tomorrow if the will was there.

The canal will be a good walk between the two. Must be something of use at Rodley.

I hope so, both because I'd quite like to try them out... and because it might make Batley a bit less of a hell-hole than it usually is on a Saturday!
I hear good reports of the "Rodley Barge" which is on the canal.
Nearest pub to the new FORGE STATION is the “Vesper Gate” approx 10/15 minutes away , whilst this usually has a cask beer on, they are nothing special, it’s basically a bland chain owned eatery.
However In Kirkstall itself (approx 20/25 minutes walk) reasonably flat wander along the road past medieval Abbey there are 3 great pubs:
West End House-Good Beer Guide entry, good food
“New George Free house” – Small bar very recent opening in site of what once was a restaurant and then bar. Keeps a very good pint. Only 2 wickets at present
Bridge Inn- Kirkstall Brewery Tap, Good Beer Guide entry, Next to the original station.
If there is access from the Station to the canal bank then heading north along the tow path the Abbey Inn is only 10-15 minutes’ walk, This is a decent pub, although I personally don’t think that its beer quality deserves its Good Beer Guide entry.
Heading South along the canal would get you to the Bridge Inn at Kirkstall in about 20 minutes.
Station is tied in with the redevelopment of Kirkstall Forge which was a major industrial plant. This at one point claimed to have been the site with the longest period of industrial use in Western Europe as it had been started by the Kirkstall Monks and shut down by GKN or their successors about ten years ago. Site is flat but has always been physically isolated by steep valley sides. Pedestrian access to the canal towpath would make it a lot more accessible. Should the development takes off I suspect a number of bars will appear nearer the station.
Could I just add that Appleby Bridge, whilst probably a sop to Bradford, would have been in hindsight better replaced by a new stop at the old “Newlay and Horsforth” Station. At the former Sandoz Chemicals plant site a major housing estate is being developed. This site would be ideally placed as a Park and ride as it’s on the Ring Road. Its usage would probably be greater than Kirkstall Forge and Appleby Bridge combined. It would also take pressure from the existing Horsforth Station on the Harrogate line which is suffering parking melt down.
If line capacity suddenly becomes available due to a reduction in freight paths caused by a structural decline in coal movements then it would become a very tempting reopening especially if tied in with road improvements past the site in relation to a projected new road to Leeds and Bradford Airport.
PS it would be convenient for the Rodley Barge.

Site of "newlay and Horsforth" is a bit remote with poor road links and too close to Kirkstall Forges new station.

The original Kirkstall Forge railway station closed later than you assumed. The official closing date was three years later than your tentative date, actually being on 31st July 1905.

Nearest is The Stansfield Arms, a bit pretentious when I was last in. Not a bad pub crawl if you do the first 6 on the list, start at the Stansfield and loop back to the Dog and Gun.
The other way (towards Rawdon) is a bit of a trek to the Princess or you can hop on the Airport bus and visit the delights of Yeadon.
