Hi there! Kirkdale is in the Liverpool Group, Preston (Lancs) Group and Wigan Group. Wick is in the Inverness Group. Below are the maps that can be used:

This well certainly lead to some crazy routeing! Because there's so many, I've looked up one combination for you, CP+WG+FD+SG+PA
Travel in this combination via the WCML only. You can go to Glasgow, however and have some fun around there, such as Glasgow Central-Motherwell-Cumbernauld-Falkirk-Edinburgh! You can travel to Inverness from Glasgow or Edinburgh, and can go Ladybank-Perth but not Dundee-Perth in either direction. You can travel through Aberdeen.
So here's a suggestion:
Kirkdale-Liverpool-Wigan-Glasgow-Motherwell-Cumbernauld-Falkirk Grahamston-Edinburgh-Aberdeen-Inverness-Wick.
You should be permitted to double-back between Motherwell and Glasgow because not all trains call there, but if your train does you would probably be safest to alight there.
I must make the point that I have not gone through every possible combination, and I'm sure there are possibilities with other maps for even crazier routeing, such as via ECML to Glasgow then to Aberdeen or something, but I don't have time to sit and work that out.
