I am liking the new look Kings Lynn station, however I do wonder why the larger station signs all appear to say 'Kings Lynn - British Railways'.
Have I missed something??! Its set out like a heritage railway sign - I actually think it looks good, although slightly odd given a lack of first capital connect signage! Any reasoning/thoughts?
(I may well have missed a previous post or news item reference the renovation - apologies if so).

Probably a like for like replacement of an old sign.

Or even (as in the case of the big new "Great Western Railway" sign on the front of Moor Street) an anachronistic throwback.

I believe the latter is the case - they were installed a few months ago IIRC as a hark back to the old days. The station paint scheme might have been altered accordingly too, but I'm not sure.

Ok so to answer your comments. We started out looking at a rewire, we then had to consider the stations grade II listing, so I visited some heritage railways and after lots of staff and passenger feedback we decided to brand the station a BR brand. We sought permission from the DfT for use of the brand as FCC were right behind the scheme.

We chose a colour scheme based on a GER steam unit, it makes the station look more vibrant, note the colour scheme was picked by passengers....

The project started as a rewire only, it grew to using LED lighting but with a heritage feel. then we included the canopy restoration. From there we were asked about totem signs, ok we thought we can do those, this grew into all new colour matched poster frames, signs, GER benches, branded ticket machines and more yet to be revealed. All of these have been inspired by railway gone by. I hope u enjoy it.

FCC have been fully supportive of tailoring the look of the building to suit its locality, embrace tradition and take on passenger feedback.

I should know its my project. If u want to know more come see me on the station Mondays or Tuesdays and we can chat more about it and I'll try to answer questions.
