Kings Cross - Waterloo avoiding escalators or stairs

After some advice - I'm arriving at Kings Cross with LNER and need to connect into SWR from Waterloo next week, returning the same way a few days later. I am looking for the best route but as I have a couple of large bags would prefer to use lifts and avoid escalators or long staircases if possible

In the past I have generally used bus(es) or walk but time is a bit tighter on this trip so suspect I might be best trying the Underground. I see from other threads the suggestion that Victoria line changing at Oxford Circus with the Bakerloo is perhaps the optimum route, so it was more about if that route can be done without escalators/long stairs.

Have you looked to see if your SWT train stops at Vauxhall, as this offers step free access?

If not then you can get the Piccadilly line train from Kings + to Green Park and then the Jubilee line to Waterloo? This however involves a fairly long walk, and with bags you may just prefer to take them on the escalators at Waterloo.

Although, both stations are quite convoluted layouts especially for step-free access, so it can be a long time getting to the platforms. For me, maps is showing both tube routes timed as ~27 minutes, whereas the number 1 bus is timed at only 32 minutes, so the bus may still be a contender.

The route via Oxford Circus is by far the easiest and quickest. You simply walk through a short level cross passage to the adjacent platform on the other line!

Whilst Victoria to Jubilee line is the shortest interchange at Green Park if you’re happy to use stairs & escalators, it’s the longest walk if you only want to use step free, as you have to walk all the way along the “old subway” to the Piccadilly line, and then the entire length of the long subway to the Jubilee! It’s effectively going two sides of a triangle.

I stand corrected! I still think the 1 Bus might be an easier option overall though.

Oxford Circus is step-free for interchange from the Victoria Line southbound to Bakerloo Line southbound- you just walk through the passageway connecting the two platforms. You can use the jubilee line lift at Waterloo, the travelator and then a few steps to the Bakerloo line

If you want lifts and to minimise walking I think Thameslink to London Bridge then South Eastern to Waterloo East would work well compared to the Underground options. I'm pretty certain there are lifts available at Waterloo East but the escalators there are very short. It's a similar story at St Pancras and I probably take the escalators there rather than looking for the lifts.

Thanks for all the replies - food for thought. I'm booked on a SWR service to Bournemouth which looks to have a call at Clapham Junction then Basingstoke but not at Vauxhall unfortunately.

The Piccadilly line Kings Cross to Green Park and then the Jubilee line sounds my best bet (or the bus if the traffic doesn't seem too heavy)
