Kings Cross to Heathrow

I was wondering if there was a way to get a train from the platform at London Kings Cross to the Heathrow Airport Station?
As far as I can tell, the shortest route is to run the train up to Finsbury Park, reverse onto the North London line and from there onto the Great Western Main Line.

Is there a route that doesn't involve reversing and all the conflicting movements required and doesn't involve a hundred mile detour?

There aren't any nicely facing chords near Kings Cross to facilitate this, unfortunately.

St Pancras would be a much better bet. Amongst a couple of other possibilities, you then have the nice quiet Dudding Hill branch within only limited interface with the NLL involved as an option.

Wouldn't be that fast though.

Depends which platform. If you mean the westbound Piccadilly line platform it's incredibly easy

St Pancras has the issue however of only apparently having single track access to the East Coast Main Line and I was pondering trains from Newcastle or wherever reversing out of King's Cross to go to Heathrow and provide a single seat through journey.

Is there room there to build a chord at King's Cross? All I can see on Google earth is a mass of overpasses and underpasses around some sort of building site.

The other practical location I've found is near Crouch Hill where a disused railway line could be used to provide a chord onto the Gospel Oak-to-Barking Line.

Looking at the aerial shots, I can't see a route from the MML platforms or the HS1 domestic- to me, it look like only the International (Eurostar) platforms are connected to the NLL?

That's definitely how the latest Quail map shows it as well...

Did BA have plans to run a through service between St Pancras and Heathrow.

Paddington is hardly central.

And what happens to the fare structure when Crossrail service connect Heathrow with central and east London. Will Oyster cards be valid ?

On the former, I don't see where you'd put that. On the latter- they meet at a rather low angle- but there is a former trackbed that would potentially be useful for that.

You can run from St. Pancras to Heathrow without reversing (assuming you had suitable rolling stock), but it'd be from the Thameslink platforms and a rather circuitous route through South London..
