Kings Cross to Beverley

I am travelling from Kings Cross to Beverley in October. There seem to be 2 main routes.

1) Kings Cross to Doncaster (VTEC) then Northern to Berverley

2) Kings Cross to Hull (Hull Trains) then Northern to Beverley.

For me the clincher will be the quality of the service on the second leg in both cases. Can anyone advice what stock is likely to be used on the Northern sectors and the likely loading changing early afternoon.

On Northern, if it is to Hull/Bridlington, it could be a 142, 150, 153 or 158 if I recall correctly.
If it is a service on to Scarborough, it will most likely be a 158

There is only one diagram on the Doncaster to Hull stoppers that is normally Pacer operated - 07.28 from Doncaster and then at around 3 hourly intervals (10.xx, 13.xx, 16.xx). Also the sole Lincoln to Hull early evening service is a Pacer.

Sheffield- Doncaster - Hull - East Yorkshire Coast line trains are Class 158 and only call at Goole and Brough between Doncaster and Hull. These leave Doncaster at xx.19 and connect out of xx.30 (to Newcastle and Edinburgh) or xx.35 (to Leeds) VTEC from Kings Cross (journey time 1h 38/ 1h.35 approx) Services on the Hull to Bridlington and Scarborough line are Class 158.

As mentioned above Hull Trains Class 180s run from London to Hull about every 2 hours.

VTEC's service leaves Kings Cross at 17.19 and arrives Hull 20.05.Northern's connection leaves at 20.24 and arrives Beverley at 20.27, though, strangely NRE suggests changing at Doncaster onto this train rather than Hull!

I imagine the NRE algorithm schedules changes from one train to another at the first valid interchange, where multiple possibilities exist as in this case.

I thought the Beverley train left at 20:14 rather than 20:24.
The 17:19 is often delayed either leaving Doncaster or by slow trains on the bit from Selby to Hull so maybe that's why a change at Doncaster is suggested.

Apologies! Typo - should have read 20.14 departure from Hull.

KX to Hull arrives Doncaster at 19.06 (19.05 last night!) on platform 4. The (Sheffield to) Bridlington goes off platform 3b (down steps, through subway, up steps - lifts available but take longer) at 19.19 giving more than adequate connecting time.

The Hull Executive (is it still called that?) arrives Hull 20.05 (20.08 last night) and the Bridlington train departs 20.14 (20.15 last night) giving less than ten minutes connecting time. Actually Brough would be the easiest place to change, as long as you check on RTT that VTEC was in front of Northern passing Gilberdyke, as it's the same platform.

Brough has too low an interchange he value to figure in the calculation.
