I've got 150 points left to use. Travelling a Friday in late Feb to Edinburgh. Was thinking about using them to get into lounge, as I am using a first rewards ticket to trvel so I won't get free entry.

What booze is available and how much is it ?

Also coming back on the Sunday 1st March can I get in the lounge at Edinburgh with my free rewards ticket?

If I can't get a few beers in there might as well just goto the pub.

What will I use my precious 134 points on??

I will expect to earn about another 150 points for a journey I should be booking next Fri, before the scheme closes.

So I will have a total 284 points ish.

Thought the 1st class lounge would be a good use of them...

I can understand not being able to get free booze? I.E like the BA galleries lounge I regular visit .. but not having it for sale????

Didn't the old GNER lounge when it was on the platform at Kings X used to sell alcoholic drinks? The days when first AP tickets were allowed?

KGX lounge does (Or at least used to) sell alcohol. Not sure about beer but IIRC miniatures of spirits were £3.50 or £4.

255 points gets you a one way standard ticket so rather than use the points for KGX lounge it might be worth keeping them and using the for a journey if you intend to make another EC journey between now and the end of September.

Any unused ones can be converted to Nectar if you have a small amount left. Apparently they are being converted at 6 Nectar per point.

Redeem it for a weekend journey and then do a Weekend First.

Personally I don't think there is any value to redeeming them for the KGX lounge as it's normally crowded and isn't that comfortable.

Plus you get a decent pint in the Parcel Yard anyway.

EDB FC lounge is a pale comparison to the KGX lounge (and I don't just mean the colour scheme!)

EDB is just a coffee machine and sachet milk, SKy TV and some copies of The List and no service once you're past the desk.

KGX you'll have OJ, chilled drinks, fruit, coffee, croissants (possibly), Evening Standard, other papers and staff on hand.

If you do another East Coast journey, use the points to get a standard class ticket, and then upgrade to first.
