The 6th May 2023 is a Saturday, so either there won't need to be a Bank Holiday, or they'll just move the May day BH from the 1st to the 5th or 8th.
And as I posted in the Eurovision thread, all Premier Inns in Central London are allegedly "sold out" for that weekend, even though the website will quote you a price.
There could be an extra Bank Holiday on Friday 5th May, with the early May bank holiday moved to Monday 8th May.

Would have caused a problem in June as any extra Bank Holiday could have affected school examinations - the timetables for those have already been published.
The chosen weekend was the last one where a Monday BH would not have caused this issue either (exams start on the 15 May).
If it had been on Friday June 2nd, the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth's coronation, it would have clashed with the FA Cup Final on Saturday June 3rd.
I am going to be in the United States on holiday (delayed umpteen times by COVID) so I will have to get up at around 5am to watch it on the TV.

We should be in Italy again by then so, hopefully, we shall also avoid it. However, we shall have to avoid any bars or restaurants with a TV, as there will probably be saturation coverage here too.

So expect most of the games to be moved from the Saturday to another date.
It will be all or nothing. In each division the last round of matches all kick off at the same time.
And there's no time to postpone because of the timetable for the playoffs.

I very much doubt that there would be any chippies or working mens' clubs in or around Westminster. The rents and business rates would be far too high!

The EFL website already says that the games will be played on the 6th or 7th May. It'll almost certainly be the 7th now.
Existing plans are probably for one of the three leagues to finish on Sunday 7th but the others on Saturday 6th.
The playoff semi final dates are the constraint, with the clubs involved not known until after the last rounds of matches are completed. There then has to be enough time to arrange tickets and travel once the clubs involved are known.

The first play off semi is on Friday May 12. This is five days after the 7th, which is the same amount of time as in previous years (i.e. last year, League 1 finished on 30 April, first semi final on 5 May).
As a Saturday has been chosen I don't understand why a bank holiday is being considered. Most employers have already paid out for two extra days. That is significant to small businesses struggling anyway. For some sole traders and the self-employed two days that can not be recovered e.g. food & drinks to workers and commuters, cleaners.
Probably the most likely outcome is that there won't be an extra bank holiday, just that the holiday on Monday 1st May will be moved to Friday 5th May or Monday 8th May.
Compared to many european countries, we do have a low number of bank holidays to start with.

Although we have the advantage that a bank holiday is a day off. In some countries the holidays fall on a specific date and if that date is a Sunday, that’s it: you don’t get Monday off instead.

There are reports that Camilla was going to be crowned with the crown that the Queen Mother wore, but is proving controversial as this contains the Koh-i-Noor diamond that India are not happy with due to colonial past, and could damage relations and in turn a trade deal in future.

The trade deal is apparently already in jeopardy following comments by Braverman about Indian immigration.

Which is ironic given her parents are of Indian origin. I can see quite a few former colonies making a big deal of all the jewels to be on display at the Coronation having effectively been pillaged from them during the Empire years; India have already got this started.

Scottish Qualifications Authority school exams start on 24 April with 1 May already left blank for the Bank Holiday.
IMO for tourism, heritage railways etc this would a bad move as it would clash with events that are normally over the weekend which next year is planned as 29 April - 1 May. People would have to choose between watch the Coronation or attend an unrelated event. For some who would go away for 3 - 4 nights on top of less disposable income this could tip the balance in deciding not to.

While Charles may well opt for a significantly shorter service afterwards there will be a parade which to give a large number of people the opportunity to see is likely to be a long route.

If the service was 90 mins then 30 mins to get the parade started the appearance of King Charles & Queen Consort Camilla on the Buckingham Palace balcony could be scheduled for 4pm.

Reminds me of 2020 when the bank holiday was moved from Monday to Friday to be on VE day for the 75th anniversary, and those who booked weddings, etc., that weekend were outraged as guests were less likely to be able to travel. Of course no-one realised at the time that something would come along that caused all those events and the planned VE day celebrations to be canned, so in the end there were no winners.
