Does the loop at Keyham have any modern day purpose? I was there a week or so back and was surprised to see work and track replacement ongoing on the section east of the platform. I know this section was originally a marshalling yard for goods heading into the dockyard but, presumably, those days are long gone?

I believe all redundant trackwork at Keyham is due to be removed. The last passenger train to use the loop platform was a Branch Line Society tour where the participants were allowed to alight for photos.
All the sidings adjacent to the up platform and the east end pointwork is being removed. The crossover at the west end is being renewed and the link to dockyard will be controlled off a mini panel / point switches rather than a ground frame.
Interesting - thank you both. Out of interest, when did the track become redundant? I imagine most of the rail traffic to the dockyard stopped many decades ago - so has this trackwork simply been left in place for years as it was too much hassle to remove it? Or has it served some other active purpose?
