Key card vending machines

A Key card vending machine has been installed at Three Bridges. For years they have been happy to post them so why have they started installing vending machines? How are they to be used?

Is there a cost for vending the card? Previously they never charged to post or replace a broken one.

It was press-released a couple of weeks ago and is intended to encourage more passengers to switch to them http://www.mynewsdesk.com/uk/govia-...fit-from-extension-of-smart-ticketing-2931424
Further improvements are planned as GTR extends smart ticketing. Kiosks will soon be installed at 12 of the busiest stations on the network outside London from where passengers can register and receive immediately their first Key Smartcard on which to apply virtual tickets at the nearby ticket machine.

From November to next spring, ticket offices at Southern, Thameslink and Great Northern stations will also steadily begin selling tickets to Key Smartcards that they will be able to issue
