Kent Rover

I'm considering doing one of these on my next trip to Kent, has anyone ever done one? Is there any places of interest they recommend visiting using the rover?

Anything really, somewhere to take some half decent pictures .

Also, does anyone know if there is a website where I can find out the distance between each station?

I'd recommend Canterbury (you could arrive at one station and walk through the city centre to the other); Tunbridge Wells for the Pantiles and Common which are both near the station, and Rochester for the castle and cathedral.

Assuming you're coming from London you could do:

Charing Cross - Tunbridge Wells - (change at Tonbridge) - Canterbury West - Canterbury East - Rochester - Victoria.

Tunbridge Wells isn't in the Kent Rover area though.

I went to Dover Castle last year, and the tunnels in the cliff which were used in the war, and the tunnels are well worth a visit - arguably better than the castle.

Tunbridge Wells isn't in the Kent Rover area though.

My mistake - I naively assumed it covered everywhere in Kent! Although according to this different map TBW is included.

You can go to High Brooms which is the next station along (and in north Tunbridge Wells) though.

IMO the Kent Rover would be more useful if it included the Tonbridge - Hastings and Ashford - Hastings routes, then you could visit Battle, Hastings and Rye on the ticket (and I know these are in Sussex!).

I had a Kent Rover a few years ago and definitely visited Tunbridge Wells without being challenged. I was disappointed that Dartford was excluded.

I've always considered it poor value compared with other rover tickets. It would be more appealing if there was a 1 day version costing say £15 with a railcard discount available. It isn't publicised much around Kent and I'd guess not purchased very often
