Just wondering if this can be purchased at any station or just SouthEastern ticket offices?
And can it be purchased on the day of travel or does it have to be purchased in advance?

KENT ROVER

Unlimited travel with weekday time restrictions for 3 consecutive days around Kent.
Kent Rover ticket

It extends from Swanley and Gravesend in the north to the Kent coastal towns of Ramsgate and Dover and is bounded on the west by the Sevenoaks-Tonbridge-Ashford-Folkestone line plus Tunbridge Wells.

Northern Ticket Vending Machines now sell most ranger and rover tickets but at the moment only for same-day travel (rather prohibitive for distant areas)
Some Avanti West Coast station TVMs for example Crewe, now sell local rangers and rovers.
LNER TVMs at Doncaster, Edinburgh, London Kings Cross, Newcastle and York also sell them.
A number of PTE areas sell local rangers from TVMs in their area e.g. South Yorkshire, Strathclyde and West Midlands

It depends on your itinerary and where in Sussex you are starting but there are probably far better value tickets available.
For example an Off Peak return from Barnham to Birchington Route" Not via London" is £34.40 and covers large parts of the rover area.

I had looked at that, but I wanted to be sure I could buy it on the day at Tonbridge.

Many thanks for the suggestion. I wanted to use the Rover to have the freedom to decide at the time where to go.

I have emailed Southe Eastern and asked the question. We shall see!

I have had a reply. The Kent Rover can be purchased at a Southeastern ticket office on the day. Extract from the reply:
"However, if you prefer to purchase at a Ticket Office, Kent Rover tickets can be bought on the day that you intend to begin using them."

Can't see this particular three day product (i.e. the 'Kent Rover') as being available to buy from Northern TVMs, albeit they do still offer a fairly wide range of many other Ranger + Rover products.

I believe the Kent Rover isn't setup to allow them to be bought at TVMs, just Ticket Offices, on-board and (theoretically) online.

Thanks for the details. Still seems odd to restrict this to SE ticket offices only (and not able to purchase in advance?) but I suppose this is a bit better than the original 'online only' push.

I may try to do one of these later in the year, if so I'll report on how easy/hard it actually was to buy.

Was it ever actually online-only, or was it just a badly worded section on the website that misled people?

Either way if it helps there’s never an issue buying one at Charing Cross - though of course that ticket office has always been among the more clued-up on the network.

The quote starting the original thread was 'they are due to be withdrawn from the 1 March 2026 from ticket offices. They will still be available to purchase from our website. Please note, these tickets will have to be posted out, so something to buy ahead of time.'; apparently this was from the customer relations department so may have been not quite the whole story.

Either way things did change (they were withdrawn from TVMs) but it was never clear if they were withdrawn from ticket offices (either all ticket offices, or not-SE ones).

As for why they made any changes in the first place, who knows?

I think I've only used Charing Cross ticket office once, but it was a positive experience. IIRC, I was trying to buy something complex and Waterloo failed miserably to work out how to sell it, CX managed it immediately!
