The first guest loco of the Southern throughout the ages event is announced. It will be 4mt tank loco, number 80078, though it will be taking the identity of 80140 ( a class member that was scrapped in 1967).
It's a good guest choice for the line; I can imagine it will sound good going up Tenterden Bank. Personally, I wish the O1 would make the guest list from the Bluebell Railway; its boiler ticket expires next year, and the KESR missed out on visiting for its 50th anniversary 2 years ago because the Bluebell had a loco shortage for their Wartime event.
Next month on the 7th and 8th November, the Kent and East Sussex Railway is hosting their 'Southern Through the Ages' gala.
