The KESR will soon be running a small Southern through the ages event on the 7th and 8th of November where it will be running both its Terrier 'Knowle' for the last time before it bows out for overhaul, alongside the 'Hastings' Thumper and its Austerity 68032 in a mock J94 livery (I saw it back in February and its safe to say they have done a good job with it).
What's also good about this event is that the KESR is doing some freight and mixed-train services throughout the day.
It's certainly a rather sensible time to host such an event; the autumn galas of most heritage railways would have finished, and the line is more or less in its prime again to visit than during a steam ban like the last few months.
The Kent & East Sussex Railway (K&ESR), based at Tenterden in Kent, is to celebrate the Southern Railway with a special event in November.
