Kensington olympia

Hi Guys,
Will shortly be going to kenny olympia on a tuesday,just wondering if anyone knows what the best time windows are there for freights

Your best bet, if you're serious about spotting/photographing freight, is to sign up to Freightmaster Online, which is definately worth the money.

Olympia is somewhat a shadow of its former self now, but can be busy-ish from about 1000 to 1500, and then again in the evening after 1800. Tuesdays look to be something of a dead day though.

Many Thanks for your help,i have tried freightmaster and its out of date before its published and some information has been misleading in it ,shame that company has a squeeze on the market,ill try my luck and see what happens hopefully will be good

I disagree, I had online access, always up to date and with forum access it's always listing updates and specials too. Not all the freight turned up but not at the fault of FM, the odd freight can run early, late, or be cancelled at the last minute, but not always

The book version is, as you say, out of date before it appears on the shelves, and is really designed to provide a snapshot of freight activity in the past.

The online version is updated regularly and like Heart of Wessex says there is also an excellent forum feature which often contains extra information like locomotive allocations and details of special workings.

As has been pointed out by previous posters,
the printed version of Freightmaster is only intended
as an historical reference to what was running at the
time of going to press, as the times/days/routes of
many freight trains change every few days, so a book
which is published every three months cannot possibly
be accurate.

Because of this, ten years ago I launched Freightmaster Online,
which featured the timetables from the book (and many more),
but updated several times a week, rather than four times a year!

shame that company has a squeeze on the market,

It's a shame that 99% of the people who critisise Freightmaster Online
have never tried it!!! :-x

I'll try my luck and see what happens hopefully will be good

I hope you manage to see something, but for the price of
a summer subscription (currently just £33), you could have
an up to date and accurate timetable for Kensington Olympia,
not to mention 100 other locations...

To show there is no ill-feeling, I have spent the past hour putting together
a customised Freightmaster timetable for Kensington Olympia, which only lists
trains likely to run on Tuesdays:

I then checked every train in turn to see if they ran yesterday,
and with the exception of 4E32 (see note on the table) and 7Z73,
they all did!

Thanks very much for your help ,very much appreciated and very kind,i am only going to london for the day so £33 is rather on the steep side for a days times ,i have indeed purchased a few books and a few friends have had online subscriptions,which they wished to not renew and the books to,one query with the books was bank holidays and no footnote for operation on these days,on the whole though very good as the book is a reference tool only ,as if you are in your local area you get to know those times by first hand experience
