Greetings.

Found tickets for 2 for Keighley to Carlisle for £67.40 return route Appleby (or the same from SON)

It's not horrendous but I was wondering if we can shave anything off.

We need to be in Carlisle before 1800 on Friday 26/10/2012. We're coming back sometime not too early on Saturday 27/10/2012.

Any help appreciated.

What have you tried so far?

Trainscanbecheaper.info can't find anything so it's highly unlikely.

And you want to return a different day, but for many intermediate journeys on this line there are only Day returns. The only way you can split with non-Day returns is to split at the few stations that have Anytime Returns to/from both stations, and they are Dent, Garsdale and Kirkby Stephen only. Splitting at an of these is more expensive. (you can use brfares.com to find those fares quicker than using NRES or a booking site)

I cannot think of anything any cheaper unless you are planning any further train trips around that time.

4 in 8 Settle freedom of Settle and Carlisle is £44. You use two days to go to Carlisle and back but you are only on £33.70 a pop so I don't think it will deliver the best value for you unless you are going to Leeds.

I can find a £28 Settle and Carlisle Day Ranger (valid Settle - Carlisle according to The Manual, Skipton - Carlisle according to this map on National Rail Enquiries, and not mentioned at all by Northern who set the fare).

But I have no trace of a 4-in-8 day rover costing less than the £65 Freedom of North West. Where did you find the £44 ticket?

I thought there might be a lot but thanks for your answers. Just a shame my need to go is outside the dates of the current Northern £10 offer.
