KCSP Lift Locations

I am well aware of maps such as http://www.flickr.com/photos/24772733@N05/4145440850/ for indicating lifts in the King's Cross St Pancras Underground Station. However, I've never actually been able to locate the actual lifts.

I am making a journey on the London Underground on Thursday afternoon, on the H&C/Circle line from Paddington to King's Cross St Pancras with a large, heavy suitcase (I've made this journey twice and resorted to lugging the case up stairs between levels, annoying and slowing other travellers). I'm aware I'm going to have to use stairs to get down to the platform at Paddington, but can anyone tell me:

- When I get off the tube train, where is lift F in relation to the platform?
- When I get out of lift F, where is lift C in relation to that?

I tried using describe online, and from that I seem to have worked out that it's in the corridor in the direction of the back of eastbound trains, and that once I'm out of lift F, the gate line is to the left, then I follow the directions for the King's Cross exit, where lift D is to the left of the flight of stairs up to the station?

I've been looking around and can't see any floorplans from the station to help me understand where to go. Thanks for any help you can give.

Lift F is situated in between the platforms at the side of one of the staircases up to the ticket hall (the one situated under the front of St Pancras). If I remember rightly, you'll need to turn right at the gateline and pass through the old northern ticket hall and follow the signs for Kings Cross platforms 0-8. The lift is on the right about halfway down the corridor.

I'm not sure what the overhead signs will say, but if you walk east towards the (old) tube ticket hall you will come straight to lift D as you note above. You need to then bear left with the old Vic/Picc gateline on your right, and then you should see a long wide passageway leading towards the new northern ticket hall:

The access to lift C and stairs is the gap on the right.

Hope this helps - I've attached a snip from a planning drawing, lifts D and C are marked in yellow.

I wish there was a proper public floorplan (like http://www.networkrail.co.uk/documents/For Passengers/Station Maps/4509_Paddington Station Map.pdf) for these things, but other people's expertise is fine too!

When my wife makes that journey she prefers to use the direct bus, no 205.

Catch it outside Paddington station on Praed Street or in reverse cross Euston Road outside St Pancras and the bus stop is about 50 minutes away.

No steps.

I had a ticket marked with a dagger. As I understand it, those are only valid on Tube, DLR and Thameslink.

To recap how my day went:
I got off the train at Paddington and tried to use the lift over by platform 1 to get to the tube platform. It was out of order, so I had to carry my stuff up the stairs anyway. I found lift F very easily, and also found lift C. Confusingly, the lift inside the lift C shaft has a ticket level and a "Euston Road" level. I was confused since that sounded like the labels that should have been on lift D. Still got me to the right place, though.

With that ticket, the bus is not included, no.

However if you've got a travel card or are prepared to pay the £1.30 on Oyster it can be easier - depends how heavy your luggage is!

That labelling could well be because once the old Kings Cross concourse is demolished lift C will come out onto the surface outside the station, a bit like lift D does.

There is at least one extra lift to come into use yet as part of the NR western concourse fit out, I think it will be round by the northern ticket hall gateline and escalators though - which will come up in the middle of the new concourse. A long distance underground but at least it won't take you outside...
