I've just set up a photo hosting page for my various (and quite random) railway related photos.

How do you change the photo which is chosen as the thumbnail of a collection on the frontpage? Is it chosen for you (is it the photo with the most hits or so)?

Pictures look good Only problem in my opinion is there seem to be wires and such in the way on a few of them.

To change the index image, choose the collection from the drop down menu, find the picture you want to set as the thumbnail, and find "Set at index image" or whatever it says on the drop down menu for that picture.

Yes... I'm not used to such fancy stuff as electrification! :roll: (Salop having no electric railways other than the Bridgnorth Cliff Railway!)

Why have they lifted the up cambrian? :-?

The Cambrian has been single for absolutely yonks (which I know you know - so not sure what you mean) - they've lifted (in the past few weeks) the head shunt of the Coleham sidings (which is what you see missing there - only the buffer stop at the very end, just visible on the photo below, remains). I suspect it will be relayed at some point soon.... well, I hope. They are relaying the sidings they lifted last year on the other side of Sutton Bridge.

Indeed - I love how the only electrified railway in the whole of Shropshire is the Bridgnorth Cliff Railway. I doubt electrification will ever arrive in the county... hydrogen fuel cell and steam powered locos replacing the diesels eventually!!

In other Salopian infrastructure news - the Coton Hill sidings have been rationalised and relayed as house building takes place there too.

Coton Hill now consists of 4 long sidings and a run-round line (so 5 in total). Are they actually ever used these days? Infrastructure trains?

I was on about the spur which connected the cambrian to the sidings and onto the Up main.

The track layout, which changed last about 10-15 years ago as far as I'm aware (which involved removing some bits n bobs), at the junction is as such (black/left diagram before lifting; brown/right diagram as present, with some relaying done):

The headshunt to the right used to be the old UP line from Welshpool IIRC. They shuffled all the single line into the middle of the exsisting trackbed. That was the line I was on about

It may be relayed. I'll keep an eye on it. They can't completely get rid of the head shunt, especially as they are relaying the sidings at Coleham. They've kept the buffer stop too.
