June 2014 Holiday - Marrakech to Liverpool

Route is as follows...Spain and France seem very expensive.;

Marrakech-Casablanca-Fez-Tangier-Algeciras-Madrid-Barcelona-Latour Enveit-Perpignan-Beziers-Neussargues-Clermont-Lyon-Paris-Liverpool

Any tips for making it cheaper or places to eat and drink.

The cheapest fares are usually obtained by booking on national web sites, especially the French parts where you can sometimes get decent cheap advance fares.

I'd need a bit more info on where your stopovers are to recommend places to eat/drink/stay.

Are you planning to do the Beziers - Clermont route for the track? If not beware the service is crap these days.

Overnighting at the following;

Marrakech, Casablanca, Fez, Algeciras, Barcelona, Perpignan and Lyon.

With a few hours in;

1455-1900 in Tangier
1230-1456 in Latour du Carol

Yes I've checked the timetable from the Beziers-Millau-Clermont line. Hoping to travel on the 0937 Intercites service for €61.50.

Beziers-Clermont appears to be an "Intercites" that doesn't offer Prems advance fares, which is a shame!

For cheaper accommodation (assuming your stopovers require accommodation), www.airbnb.com might be worth a look although I haven't used it myself yet.

Be aware that the Intercites train often gets split in two, with potent railcar replacement or even road bus. Notwithstanding you must do it now before the line closes altogether. But just wanted to flag up the risk.

In the last few years some parts of the journey have been Z2 EMU or even X73500 diesel railcar.

Auvergne region has effectively abandoned the St Chely - Neussargues section as unviable, Neussargues being a kink to the west which makes road services much faster, so most services are bus
