Avoiding the finer details (although I doubt it'd be a problem if I gave them) I currently have £50+n to spend on train tickets! The n is variable, because it will have to be covered by me, but I could do an extra £20-30 if it was worth it.
So, my question is (and I think this is the right section of the Forum) where should I go? Oddly, I've found that my problem is that the tickets don't cost enough! I have a 16-25 railcard, and will be limited to travel on Saturdays (so, off-peak). I can't go anywhere until 2nd February 2013 at the earliest and I'm based in Manchester (fares from Mauldeth Road).
The obvious springs to mind as London, but that's only £15.80 for Virgin's cheapest advances - and the peripheral costs are only £5.60 for the travelcard and £1.15 for the MAU-MAN return! That's only £22.55 and each transaction must come to a minimum of £25.
I dunno really... I don't wanna waste money just buying flexible tickets I don't need, especially since I physically can't travel until February!
Perhaps HS1 would do the trick? Or Scotland? Never been to either of these, so don't know much about them!
Just to throw a spanner in the works (a really nice spanner actually!) I've got a Northern free voucher (YES!!!), so Cumbrian Coast, S&C ect. are no good as that is better value!
I'm happy to take the first departure from MAU at 06:14 on any old Saturday, and other than that my only restriction is that I'll have to be back there that night!

I should say that I'm now up to £65 in vouchers, which means I could be looking at up to £100 to spend on trains come the new year! Yippe! Funny that one TOC gave me >300% refund for a customer service issue, but another gave me 50% for an actual journey issue!
