Hi all, My son has an advance booking on the 1825 Exeter st David - Birmingham train later today. I`m just wondering if because of all the snow and disruption today whether Crosscountry are letting advance tickets being used on earlier trains?
Ideally it would be good if he could use his ticket on the 1625 or 1653 departures from Exeter. I know and understand that advance tix are for booked trains only but in the current circumatances (snow etc ) are any train companies being lenient towards earlier travel??

Yes, several.
CrossCountry said:
Customers with tickets for today (Monday 20 December), including Advance, are advised to travel as early as possible if the journey is on a route affected by the adverse weather conditions. Advance tickets on routes affected by the adverse weather will be accepted on any alternative CrossCountry services, however seat reservations will not be available.

Now im probably being a numpty but how would i find out if the journey between exeter and birmingham is affected by adverse weather? My son is actually travelling from axminster and changing at exeter....i notice the South west trains have implemented a revised timetable and his original train (1704) has been removed from the timetable.

Yes, several.

Having just phoned National Rail Enq to check on the possiblity of my son travelling earlier on his advance ticket i was told that they have recieved NO notifications from Crosscountry regarding any easements to advance tickets today.
