Journey Planning: Wolverhampton - Euston 1st April LM Only

Sorry this isn't really fares relates, it's more journey planning but I figure this is the best place to put it.

Does anyone have a quicker way to get to and from Euston on the 1st April using my season ticket (so any operator between Wolves and Coventry) and an LM complimentary day ticket?

I don't want to leave too early, ie 9 or 10 and I need to be back in Wolverhampton by 2315.

So far the best and fastest itinerary I have come up with is:

1/4/2013
10:20 Wolverhampton - Stafford 10:37 (LM)
10:55 Stafford - London Euston 12:49 (LM)

19:13 London Euston - Birmingham New Street 21:30 (LM)
22:08 Birmingham New Street - Sandwell & Dudley 22:18 (LM)
22:30 Sandwell & Dudley - Wolverhampton 23:05 (Bus)

Thats the best option, unless you want the hassle of taking a bus to Sandwell then a train onwards.

That seemed to take longer than going via Stafford too as the Stafford-Euston train skips Northampton.
