One new one today with ATW affecting 1434 Holyhead to Cardiff saying running with 2 coaches instead of 3 due to the original unit failing while WIFI being fitted. (ATW installing WIFI on 150, 153 and 175 fleets)

150, 158 and 175, but I suspect you knew that and that was a typo on your part.....

I spotted a Wifi sticker as I made my way to get out of the 1430 Man Picc to Milford Haven today, and thought that was new. Good progress, if only they now had at seat plug sockets to go with it, sigh...

I know some trains now have these at tables, but I don't think it is a general thing yet.

They're fitted at tables on 158s and all seats on loco hauled. Nothing else as yet.

It's worth checking every time you're in a 150, 158 or 175 if there is WiFi as not all the WiFi fitted units have the stickers - the decision to add them was made later.

Thank-you for your detective work! :D

Given, then, that ATW were calling additionally at Patricroft today [and that their Journey-Check didn't say they were, only the ones which weren't], why were the LHCS unable to call? Was it to do with platform length, or sighting due to the curve, or what?

Received (from here) wisdom is that it's due to train/platform length.

It's not very obvious, the one I saw was on the side of the luggage rack. I had spent most of my journey using my phone's tethering allowance, so was a bit bemused to see that I could have at least tried it out.

I am smiling at the idea that the stickers were an afterthought - yes we now have WiFi but we don't want you to know about it!

I know the weather is warmer today but surely not a heatwave yet. Extract from ATW Journey Check:-

QUOTE/
[Delays to services between Prestatyn and Flint
Due to a speed restriction because of high track temperatures between Prestatyn and Flint trains have to run at reduced speed on the line towards Chester.
Impact
Train services running through these stations will be delayed by up to 20 minutes. Disruption is expected until 17:30 15/03.
Customer Advice
Network Rail report that track monitoring equipment has indicated high rail temperatures between Talacre and Mostyn. This means an emergency speed limit has been applied to the affected portion of the line.
Trains towards Chester will reduce their speeds significantly (to 20mph) for approximately 1 mile.]

Track has just been relaid at Mostyn with renewal of points and signals. I think newly-laid track is more vulnerable to expansion during (unexpected) warm spells.

A regular one from ATW is when the Tweeter is asked if they have spoken to the Guard and replies hasn't been seen. ATW often say "He could be at the rear carrying out safety duties". I thought this, whilst in traffic, would only apply if safely opening and closing doors and despatching.

The 14.50 Great Malvern to Weymouth train was listed on GWR journey check as not having working toilets. And the in-working from Brighton was shown as short formed! Maybe they swapped the 2 car unit at Bristol to a 3 car unit that needed maintenance? Or maybe they didn't and the guard noticed the toilets have failed upon turning around at Great Malvern. Either way, not great - Though there are toilet facilities at plenty of stations en route, though as some parts of the line only get 1tp2h, I can't see people wanting to leave the train unless the guard had organised a loo stop...

Sounds to me like someone meant to type that in the 'internal information' box but did it in the wrong one :P

ATW Journey Check this morning shows some Manchester to North Wales Coast having no reservations due to the stupid and meaningless explanation "ongoing operational challenges" that ATW use on occasions and especially which was used to "disguise" traincrew shortages back last year.
However, the reports go on to say "due to a shortage of tickets for printing earlier" so in the end give the actual reason.

Sounds like usual best-fit from list of fixed reasons; then using the free text further information box to explain in more detail. Nothing to see here...

Interesting...

There's a bug in the Tyrell client whereby if you want to change the reason used for an incident the drop down menu misbehaves and initially defaults to "Last Used" instead of what it was originally paged out as; but 1) you've opened the drop down to change the reason, so you'd normally immediately spot it as you're deliberately selecting something different - and 2) I've never actually managed to get it to accept "Last Used" as the reason, it normally throws an error message and refuses to go to the next page. This is clearly a new issue - well spotted!

Unfortunately I don't have the actual reason to hand; but hopefully explains why "Last Used" was seen... Now to have a conversation with NexusAlpha....

From GWR Journey Check:

12:48 Paignton to Cardiff Central due 16:18
Facilities on the 12:48 Paignton to Cardiff Central due 16:18.
Will be formed of 2 coaches instead of 4 between Bristol Temple Meads and Cardiff Central.
This is due to more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time.
Additional Facilities Information
Customers will be required to change trains at Bristol Temple Meads today.
--

I wonder if the set was swapped in Exeter and a Pacer worked forward instead?

150102 worked Paignton - Bristol TM, then swapped out for 150202 coming off St Philips Marsh; 102 was then pinched to work an Avonmouth.

Just out of interest, would pax be able to just walk forward to the replacement unit on platform 7 (permissive working)? RTT did not mention anything.

Yes. As it was the same service and Headcode RTT wouldn't see any difference

That's most definitely a 'oops that should have been internal only' moment - I've seen many TOCs use the feature, but always only to inform colleagues. Shouldn't have been pushed out on Journeycheck for the public to see

ATW seem to have a habit of publishing things publically on Journey Check  - I saw one a couple of years ago saying that children were running across the track playing 'chicken' in North Wales before!
