Fifty years ago - early 1968 - I was in my first year at Secondary School in Northwich. A great delight for me was - whilst walking the last bit into school - seeing an 8F pounding up Northwich Viaduct westwards on a heavy freight. Particularly on a cold, frosty morning. How I wish I'd had a camera to record it..... If timed wrong you could get a cinder down the neck if you crossed under the railway at the wrong time......
