Hello all. Long time lurker, now new member and first-time poster 
I might be relocating in the next two years, and am looking at a change of career. The railway comes to mind and there are a couple of jobs I am provisionally interested in. I wonder if anyone in the roles below could advise me on what the jobs are like, things such as shift times and patterns, roles and tasks, training, job requirements, level of public interaction, etc.
I would like to get an idea in order to decide whether or not I think I may be up to it and if its worth looking for the following positions on TOC/FOC websites:
Despatcher
Shunter/depot driver (freight).
Forgive me if the titles aren't entirely correct; if the relocation is to go ahead, I'll be looking at the south coast area.
