Just had it confirmed that I've passed my medical and wanted to say how valuable this forum has been in securing a place on a course as a trainee driver - a real wealth of knowledge!

There are some great guys and girls on this forum, and you've been instrumental in helping me achieve this golden opportunity, so thank you to all of you that I've pestered in DM's and on here in the public forum!

So here's to you, thank you all very much!! See some of you hopefully on the 3rd July in ashford!

Congratulations, I've got my medical on Saturday, with a potential start day of the 17th July in what I presume will be Ashford. I'm desperate to be excited but got to get through this medical first!

As a current trainee driver with GTR, you wont just be going to Ashford yet as there is no depot there for GTR. Also you be probably based in a classroom in Central London for minimum of 16 weeks for your rules.

But all the same, congrats on your job offer. The hard work starts now.

Thanks all! Yes, I should have probably mentioned lol - it's a trainee driver role - so over the moon!!

Akinobis20, thanks mate, but I'm not with GTR, and have had it confirmed training will be in Ashford for me!

You should be fine mate. Just be honest and make sure you don't have any alcohol for a couple of days prior!

It's all fairly straightforward and everyone I saw were very nice and professional.

Congratulations on the job. I'm still a long way off (assessment day 2 coming up next Monday), but will give it my best.

Is the medical pretty intense?
Do you really need to abstain from any alcohol for a few days before.. not even a glass of wine or beer with dinner?

Cheers :)

Thanks all, I start in two weeks! And as it goes my training won't be in ashford after all lol!

Looking forward to being part of the elite driving team haha, although I know this is where the hard work starts!!

As for the medical, it's not intense at all. There's a hearing and eyesight test, ecg, urine test for drugs and alcohol - if I were you I wouldn't risk having a glass the night before, it's not worth it having got that far to potentially fail because of a glass of wine!! Then you see the doctor who goes over your medical history (if you have declared anything) and gives you some exercises to do and that's it!

I start in four weeks. Have you been told where you're going to be training at each stage?

Congrats on the job mate! As it turns out as far as I know (apart from my 3 day corporate induction) it'll be at Orpington.
