Well guys, after waiting in the pool for 13 months I have today been offered a Conductor position at Skipton subject to passing a medical, starting on 4th August.

So chuffed and can't believe it!

You need to look at the amount of candidates in pools and the amount getting employed, the percentage is very low so in fact they rarely work.

If you take the total amount in pools all over the country and then take into account the ones that are still waiting after 2 years plus you may look at it different. Pools are potential employees who were not chosen for the job so therefore there must have been better candidates. I know of many companies that re-recruit even with pools in place. My advice would be to apply for another company as soon as possible if you are in a pool.

But you do, apply for a different company, read above, the comment is not negative it's the way it is. No point in beating around the bush and saying on here "yes, of course you will eventually get a job" when in fact statistically you won't.

You're welcome. Sarcasm is a great form of communication. I used to recruit drivers and know all about so called talent pools, I must admit I do feel sorry for the people on hold and I personally never agreed to putting people through that sort of waiting game but it doesn't detract from the fact about the reason why people are put into these pools in the outset.

Unless you work in HR or higher management for the particular TOC we are interested in, excuse me if I take what you say with a pinch of salt for at least the rest of the year, thank you please
