Having lost my job as a Platform Controller (responsible for platform safety, train planning, turnaround and dispatch) at St Pancras International during the company restructuring that followed the sale of the British Government’s shareholding, I have accepted a job as an parcel delivery van driver to tide me over while I look for another position on the rail network. Having worked for Eurostar for nearly twenty years, (however,) I am rather out of touch with the recruitment industry and would really appreciate some advice. I have been searching the usual internet job sites (Indeed and Monster, amongst others), but would I be better off signing up with a recruitment agency that specialises in the rail industry and, if so, who would you suggest that I approach? My grateful thanks for any advice offered.

I'd hope that Eurostar offered help during the redundancy process even if they couldn't offer you a new job.

I suppose the obvious first places to look would be started pancras EMT and thameslink. Then maybe the tocs at kings cross( virgin, gtr?) and then euston (virgin,London midland and overground) or even chiltern at Marylebone, gwr at Paddington.

If you haven't,then I'd sign up to all these tocs recruitment email systems or even give them all a call and mention the e* redundancy.

I was with a company called Mane Rail a few years back in my contractor days. They were pretty good and had loads of work in London both on the London Overground and Underground.

Network Rail CSA vacancies at St Pancras? Not sure if there are any right now, but may well be some coming up. I'm sure there are some soon at Ebbsfleet, as well as a Shift Manager role.
