I do not know the deviation in route between the 42 and 42a

I think you would struggle to get an Evora around some of the streets of the 42 route as I heard even the short Enviros found it tight

I know that the First Glasgow 242 operates between Holytown and Overtown it only operates near Wishaw General but does not enter the Hospital Grounds

No they haven’t. Only the SPT tendered part of the route between Monklands Hospital and Calderbank has been announced.

Is there any difference between the 42A (the Saturday timetable) and the 211 (Evenings and Sundays) or is SPT still up to their tricks of making it deliberately harder for less confident users to use the bus network?

The 211 tender is due for renewal in July but there is no guarantee that JMB will be awarded it or even apply for the tend. If they do they’ll probably request to change the route number to 42 or 42a, which would make sense as it would be merging two tenders into one.

I passed JMB's 2 new 24 plate Evoras today which when I passed them were on the 5. Looking smart but not sure about the black light clusters compared to the 22 plate examples which are painted to blend in with the livery.

First time I have noticed them this week so not sure if today was their first day out and if the 5 is their permanent route or not.

Buses registrations are, SJ24 HWA / SJ24 HWB

We are excited to announce the launch of our new Glasgow Fast service X1 from Monday 13th January. Running up to every hour on Mondays to Saturdays, the service will provide direct links from Hillhouse, High Earnock, Fairhill and Low Waters to Glasgow Cathedral Street and Buchanan Bus Station.

Martin Bell, JMB Travel Managing Director, says: "We have served Hamilton with our popular Service 41 for many years, and after hearing of the campaign by residents to have a fast bus link reinstated to Glasgow, we reviewed existing transport options and concluded that there was an opportunity to develop just such a link.

"Our new X1 will connect the major residential areas of Hamilton to the Town Centre before running along the M74 & M8, providing easy access to Glasgow Royal Infirmary, the University quarter and Buchanan Galleries"

"We have invested in two new state-of-the-art single deck buses for the service which will provide customers with a quiet and comfortable journey, driven by our small team of dedicated drivers. We are excited to get on the road from the 13th of January and look forward to welcoming our new customers onboard”.

I wonder if they will increase the frequency rather than use higher capacity buses.

The new timetables for the X1 is now on the it's Facebook page, and should be on the website shortly. There is a few other changes coming into effect which includes service 41 having a few extra early morning and evening journey while Service 42 Saturday operations will now mirror the week day service. JMB will take over fully service 210 however it will only operate at nights moving forward with the early morning service withdrawn by Sunday daytime journeys to law will be provide by revised 193.

Probably being charged using a 3-pin plug.

The two 24-pl EvoRa that have seen use on the 5 are branded for the X1.

The 5 has reverted to an ex-London enviro 200 and a Solo today.

JMB hasn't updated their website yet with any of the recent changes due to apparently awaiting information from 3rd parties. Why that stops them at least half updating their website I don't know but that's why it's not updated there yet (and subsequently why it's not showing on bustimes.

Oddly as your pointed out there is no X1 tameable on the website, Thankful there have plastered the Hamilton with the timetables, and every man and his dog news outlet has reported on it.

In some good news the X1 has been extremely popular, which has resulted in a brand new bigger bus being bought " SF25 JYW" which has 46 seat. It seems rather quick to get a new bus in so they must have gambled it would be busy but it's paid off. Can we expect another bigger bus to appear later in the year?

Fair play to JMB. I'm glad they are succeeding with the service. I hope the patronage remains high and it's not just an initial hype. Wish we had more innovative independents around trying things.

I've heard there's two bigger buses to hit the road.

Perhaps these were ordered all along and have been a delayed delivery. Hence the smaller pair from the 5 being rebranded for the launch.
