Really enjoyed that read, glad you're back on the scene and I'm definitely looking forward to more very engaging stuff!
D stock always reminds me of the New York subway trains since their "American style" refit. If they were still in the plain grey livery, they could definitely pass for subway stock!
As to the 442's may not be very long as the new 387/2's are undergoing testing. But there is always the rumours that the 442's will be converted to coaching stock and stick a big noisy engine on the end of it...i can only hope
When we PM'd each other earlier and you said you got the 1600 back you never said you were up and about a 0515, no wonder you made your way back then. I was still curled up in bed until 0700.
Welcome to the trip reporters! It was a brilliant read and sounds like a great day out. And, just to say, you are doing better on the 442s than me, not to mention the tube stuff!
Welcome to the trip reporter community. I also have had lethargic starts at early times that have caused me to have to replan days out, predominantly buses from where I live. Looking forward to more trip reports in the future
