Japanese Fleet Lists

I'll be spending a little over a week in Osaka in a couple of months time and my daughter has designated me 1 whole day to 'go play on the trains', though no doubt I'll be up for the first services each morning before her lazy ass wakes up.

Is there a free online source of current fleets and operational status to help me create a 'crib list' ?

Edit: It would have helped if I stated I would mainly be focusing on the Osaka Metro system, especially in the early mornings.

I can't help with fleet information, but in case you aren't aware, the Osaka Metro one day ticket is a mere 820yen (£3.84) Mon-Fri, or 620yen (£2.90) weekends and holidays. Valid from first to last train, and includes city buses.

Yes, I had looked at the ridiculous prices for the spinning tickets, thanks for your input all the same

You can deduce the fleet list from the Wikipedia article ( yeah... I know... pinch of salt... ) although you'll have to follow the links to each individual type of train to get the fleet number - which will be the built lists, not necessarily what's still in service.

I find the Japanese 'RailLab' site very useful for this sort of info (with an online translator of course) - this is the fleet list page for the Osaka Metro:

For each listed series if you click on the number in the 4th column it gives the current formation with car numbers of each unit.
