This seems very messed up to me...

Even if the person doing the chasing was driving extremely dangerously, (which it doesn't say he was or wasn't), then why isn't everyone who drives that dangerously jailed for 8 years? most are let off with virtually no concequence!! the maximum penalty is 2 years I believe.
But, even then, how can he be "jointly" responsible? Surely the driver who crashed (and stole in the first place!) is entirely responsible!
This country seems desperate to fight for the rights of criminals above all else. And if anyone dares stand up to the criminals they are frowned upon.
:-?:-?:-?:-?
BTW, don't get me wrong, I'd love to see all dangerous drivers jailed for 8 years - it'd make the roads a lot safer for the rest of us! - but this isn't about jailing dangerous drivers at all, this is about making someone responsible for the actions of a criminal who chose to drive off recklessly and crashed due to his own wreckless actions. The driver of the car that crashed should be jailed for a lot longer IMO.
