You can resume without having pictures Mr M, and when the issues are resolved you can edit the pictures into the post.
I think the max file size which can be uploaded has been decreased from 5MB, so you will probably have to host the pictures on something like Flickr (set up another account if needed).

OK... I'll try to get caught up after the coming weekend... the reports may be a little less detailed than before simply because there's obviously been quite a few since the early summer!

I'll be honest, I don't read the new sightings thread, and I barely pay attention to the new haulages thread either! Occasionally I might have a quick scan of some recent posts on the odd occasion I have scored something (and thus make a post on that thread), but I don't really make a massive effort to see who's done what.
However, you have reminded me that I need to update my needs lists off my old phone, something I had forgotten about doing!

Once we'd matched our calendars and nothing went wrong, he was able to get straight here, amend the security settings, and fix it very quickly then re-secure it - along with an up to date backup browser.
I will now, therefore, catch up from where I left off although given the length of time the smaller trips will be done in summary form.

As it happens, we resume with a bigger trip: a mission to Birmingham for the Railtex.
Starting from Epsom with 455 736 + 455 904 + 456 022 - which was promptly terminated at Raynes Park due to signal problems halving the number of services able to run beyond Wimbledon to Waterloo! Across the platform, however, produced the far superior standard of rolling stock in the form of 707 009 + 707 013 onwards from which I was able to grab a picture of 21333 at Wimbledon. From Waterloo it was 51609 + 51705 on the Northern Line.
Leaving Euston on 390 131 there was some interest at the Willesden / Wembley complex with 710 269, 66 119 and 66 194 parked up and at the north end 86 605 + 86 639 were just arriving with a long container train. We passed 66 531 at Roade and observed 57 307 and 86 259 parked up at Rugby.
While at Railtex, I received gen through this forum that my last HST power car for photo was heading north and at a very convenient time, so once I had finished my network and catching up with people - something Railtex is very good for - I made my way to New Street on 390 006 and lo and behold 43366 rolled in as expected and thus I was able to clear that particular list. For good measure I photographed the entire rake as well, but they all turned out to be dud for photo! While waiting for the 43, I also took the opportunity to get a picture of 221 144 which just happened to be present.
After getting my picture, it was 390 013 back to Euston - I made sure I was catching something that started from New Street so I could be sure of a good window seat - and at Tring we overtook a 37 hauling a brand new 345 on delivery to Old Oak Common; I actually forgot to look for the numbers on that but did not make the same mistake with 70 008 at Berkhamstead or 66 140 at Wembley.
The short hop underground back to Waterloo was on board 51654 + 51655 and then I was fortunately just in time to get a pair of "Boeings" back to Epsom from Waterloo, 707 005 + 707 018 doing the honours.
As usual, some of the day's photographs are attached below ( the track machine is 73930 ) and tomorrow if I get time I will do the next report, 20th May to Leeds...

This time my haulage from Epsom to Waterloo was 455 714 + 455 859 + 456 007 and went through without any problems; then swiftly over to King's Cross via the Bakerloo ( 3242 + 3466 ) and Victoria ( 11051 + 11052 ) Lines, using the Oxford Circus cross platform interchange. At King's Cross, 67 012 was on Thunderbird standby while my haulage to Leeds was 91 121 with the rake consisting of 82205 + 11410 + 11310 + 11282 + 10331 + 12305 + 12443 + 12488 + 12419 + 12214.
There was little of note observed on the way north but brand new "ghost" 717 018 was at Hornsey and another one, 717 014, was seen at Potter's Bar. The next sighting was 66 780 at the GBRf depot at Peterborough, but at Doncaster things were not surprisingly somewhat busier. 66 136, 66 709, 66 702 and 08 724 were all noted on the locomotive front while I grabbed a picture of 220 012 while we were sitting at a signal waiting for that to cross. 331 105 and 331 107 were present as well. Further along, we passed 331 102 at Wakefield.
My reason for going to Leeds was to clear one of my two remaining 158s from my photo hit list; while I was waiting for it I took the opportunity to get pictures of a number of units before the scene changed with all the new stock arriving, these being 144 016, 170 459, 170 454, 185 118, 142 096 and 322 484, so quite a variety. 66 705 also trundled through, but was not in photographic position from where I was. Then something more modern showed up as 800 113 arrived from London; a few pictures were swiftly obtained of it. At this stage, there was only the one diagram for the "zoomy things" and it had only been in traffic for a few days. A quick bit of checking with Real Time Trains showed that it would be leaving just four minutes after my target 158 arrived from York. Alert! Alert! Planning mode status: overdrive!
Noting that the 158 would arrive adjacent to the 800, I positioned myself on the next platform over but right next to the shorter north footbridge; the idea being to grab the picture of the 158 as it arrived and then dash over to bag the 800 for haulage. This was tight, but just about do-able. Fortunately 158 784 arrived on time and *click* went the camera, followed by the thunder of hooves across the footbridge - I got on board the 800 just one minute before the doors closed.
I rode this as far as Doncaster, where I disembarked in order to get pictures of the 331s in the yard that I mentioned earlier. I managed a bit more as well and the photographic tally was 331 102, 331 105, 800 110, 91 110, 67 006, 331 107 and 802 203 in that order, plus eleven Mk4 carriages. Pictures gained, I waited for the next London service; this turned out to be 43314 + 43274 with the rake 41066 + 41164 + 40742 + 42355 + 42116 + 42357 + 42134 + 42122 + 44031 between them. Just below the station I noted 66 755 and 66 782.
Passing Peterborough, I grabbed pictures of 66 780, 66 601, 66 749, 66 769 and 700 131. Passing Hornsey I noted 90 014 moving southwards with a rake of Mk3s returning to their normal territory after maintenance. Once at King's Cross, I walked across to St Pancras for 700 016 to Sutton, thence 377 603 + 377 623 back to Epsom.

This is one of those more routine trips that I will just summarise in order to help catch up quicker with these reports; it was basically an IET haulage hunt that involved three return trips between Paddington and Reading, yielding six IETs - one per leg with no pairs involved. That was followed by a quick spin to Acton Main Line and back, yielding one 345 - the other was dud - and then over to Moorgate to pick up some "ghosts" to Drayton Park, back to Old Street, out again to Finsbury Park. Gained six of those through some station hopping plus had a short hop on a pair of 313s as a positioning move.
Travel out and back from Epsom in both directions was via London Bridge on 377s and Thameslink from there.

This being the Crewe open day, I won't bother to list the exhibits or the stock in the various depots and yards nearby as this would not only be a very long straight list of numbers but it's also fairly well known generally what was there.
Starting off from Epsom to London Bridge with 377 408 + 377 441, the opportunity was taken to see the replica Spitfire on display at the latter station before heading underground to take 51645 + 51646 across to Euston. 390 005 was the haulage to Crewe, and prior to departure 90 043 and 87 002 were observed on Sleeper duties while the charter to Crewe and onwards with 47 501 and 47 810 left shortly before we did. As is well known, the charter experienced problems and we came past it again while it was looped at Wembley for one of the locomotives to run round. Also at Willesden / Wembley were 710 263, 710 266, 710 268, 66 067, 66 553, 37 601, 86 608 and another 86/6. At Leighton Buzzard, 66 707 was sighted and the Rugby Thunderbird was 57 304.
Following the visit to the open day, the return south was made with 350 233 + 350 125; this was partly because the service started from Crewe so good seats were guaranteed; the larger windows compared to the 390s were also a big factor in the choice! The run back was uneventful and the only sightings on the way were 66 754 at Rugby and a further four at Wembley: 66 526, 66 709, 66 177 and 66 003. It remained only to get 51565 + 51566 across to Waterloo and then 455 848 from there to Epsom.

Another routine IET hunt followed by more London unit bashing, so just a quick summary:
Two trips to Reading this time, but including photographing one of the scrap moves - 57 312 + 313 29 + 313 027 - otherwise nothing remarkable although I did grab a photo of 08 780 about to be roaded away from Southall; no further "Ghosts" located on the Moorgate route but I did gain a couple of 710s on the Goblin.
Please excuse the quality of the picture of the 08 in the selection below; it was taken from an IET in very rainy conditions at something like 95mph...

A little bit different here, a family trip to Henley - which I managed to wangle to go via Reading rather than on the slower service all the way although unfortunately my cunning plan failed and the IETs were dud both ways... still managed a few photos though, but only four were railway ones... see below.

Yet another IET hunt; by now I had very few left to get, so this was only to be expected, but it did mean only the one return trip. I had gen that some of the 1973 Stock DMs that I still needed a picture of were out, so I went after those and some S7s rather than try a second Reading trip.
Again, I snapped a class 313 scrap move at Reading, this time 57 312 + 313 018 + 313 046. I missed a picture of 57 003 hauling DVT 82133 through Reading by being bowled - well, it happens... Another highlight of the day was seeing newly delivered 345 057 being shunted into Old Oak Common by 37 601.
As usual, a selection of pictures from the day is below.

Officially this was a shopping trip to Thornton Heath, but I seemed to "accidentally" get off at Wimbledon instead of Clapham Junction and head up to Earl's Court and then end up at West Kensington before finally making my way to Victoria and thence to my destination. How careless of me...

Easiest way of getting the GWR IETs...
Next report following in a few minutes; while I won't necessarily be able to catch up at the rate of one report a day like I have been doing this week, I'll certainly be trying to get caught up as soon as I can...
Agreed, it is the easiest way to pick up the IETs, just take a seat on the bench underneath the overbridge at Reading and watch for anything heading towards London, also for anything heading away so you can try and intercept it later.

It might be the easiest way, but if it's anything like when I did similar on HSTs several years ago it gets really boring, really quickly.
I do need to get down there at some point though, but equally I can also hunt for 802s in Devon. Which is certainly a more appealing idea...

This was another family day out, this time to Marlow so no chance of getting away with trying to go via Reading this time! In fact what we did was get the train all the way out to Marlow and then walked along the river bank back to Bourne End so 387s all the way both ways to Maidenhead the a Turbo on the shuttle on the branch. In theory. What actually happened was we had 165 113 + 166 204 on the way out from Paddington...
Again, with it being a family trip, not a lot of scope for railway photos but I did manage some:

Another summary report from an IET chase to Reading, one trip only, followed by my going after another 1973 Stock DM or two for photo. Returned home via a quick spin up to Hendon so I could see what might be in Cricklewood before heading to Sutton for Epsom. While at Reading I did get one interesting photograph, two five car IETs under permissive working at Reading. The circumstances were to avoid a train having to sit just short of the station for a prolonged period when there was disruption towards Paddington. The two IETS were 802 015 and 802 002; this is the third picture in the below.

Taking my daughter to meet a friend in Barnstaple, this necessitated a stay overnight in Barnstaple but I did also provide an opportunity ti get a few trains in on the way there and back!
We started off with 455 871 + 455 702 from Epsom, but had to make a cross platform change at Raynes Park to 455 849 + 455 725 due to engineering work restricting the number of trains between Wimbledon and Waterloo. The Wimbleware was also closed for engineering, so we had to go the long way round all the way to Waterloo and then the Bakerloo.
That didn't go well either; 3266 + 3444 from Waterloo but we had only gone three or four stops when the door interlock was lost, we it was a case of bail out for the following train, 3267 + 3440. Then it was dud 802 105 from Paddington to Exeter for 150 001 to Barnstaple.
The return on Sunday was 143 619 + 143 621 from Barnstaple to Exeter, which got in a couple of minutes early so we were able to make a mad dash across the footbridge and catch 802 002 + 802 016 for Paddington, avoiding an hour's wait - and also 802 016 was required for haulage, so doubly fortunate there! The Wimbleware was still closed, so it was 3252 + 3445 to Waterloo for 455 856 + 455 920 to Epsom.
In both directions I did grab a number of pictures on the way and the usual selection is shown below.

The return on Sunday was 143 619 + 143 621 from Barnstaple to Exeter, which got in a couple of minutes early so we were able to make a mad dash across the footbridge and catch 802 002 + 802 016 for Paddington, avoiding an hour's wait - and also 802 016 was required for haulage, so doubly fortunate there! The Wimbleware was still closed, so it was 3252 + 3445 to Waterloo for 455 856 + 455 920 to Epsom.
In both directions I did grab a number of pictures on the way and the usual selection is shown below.

This trip started off with another IET hunt and finished with some 710s on the Goblin. My first move was 455 727 + 455 736 from Epsom and then 21389 + 21390 from Wimbledon to Paddington from where it was 800 312 to Reading. There was a nice crop of locomotives on the way out with 66 054, 66154, 66 099 and 66 622 at Acton, 59 005 at West Drayton, 66 748 at Iver ( later photographed at Reading ) and 59 202 + 59 20x doubleheaded at Taplow.
Once at Reading, there was 66 415, 66 512, 66 518... and a long fester once I received gen on my next required IET... it was a couple of hours away! Well, rather than sit around I took 166 202 to Reading West and 165 103 back again to see if I could get any track machines in the old depot; I also grabbed a picture of Heathrow Express liveried 387 130 at the new depot. Back at Reading, 66 504 appeared before the required IET, 802 112, finally rolled in for the run back to Paddington.
Passing Acton, I added 66 075, 66 170, 66 012 and 66 013 to the day's tally and did a picture of 800 303 at Paddington. Then a long trundle first with 21357 + 21358 for the short hop to Baker Street and then and 21517 + 21518 all the rest of the way to Barking. I managed to get photographs of 357 324 and 357 327 which overtook us at West Ham.
On the Goblin, the first haulage was 710 269 to Woodgrange Park, then 710 263 to Gospel Oak, passing 66 531 at South Tottenham. Everything else running on the Goblin was dud for haulage! I was also running out of time, so it was 378 229 from Gospel Oak to West Hampstead then 700 112 to Blackfriars for 700 005 to Sutton, unusually starting from the bay because of earlier problems - which also allowed me to get 700 013 off my photo hit list as it left with a Sevenoaks a few minutes earlier, and finally 377 319 + 377 328 + 377 122 to Epsom.

Fair to say you got out and about fairly regularly last year! Must cost a fortune!

Not too bad overall thankfully - one advantage of being cloth eared is that I get the disabled railcard... also, don't forget things like the multiple Reading returns would be done with boundary zone 6 extensions on Travelcards. Some of the trips, as you have seen, were com,bined with family days out or shopping trips so in those instances the travel money would have been spent anyway. That doesn't mean I don't wish it was cheaper, of course!
Anyway, I've caught up on three months of the backlog of reports already with more to come... next up, hopefully tonight, will be the 2019 summer holiday to Porthmadog...

Off we go then, 455 735 + 455 848 + 456 012 from Epsom to Wimbledon, then to Edgware Road on 21547 + 21548 and on from there to Euston Square with 21359 + 21360. Yes, that's a more circuitous way than just going to Waterloo and then the Northern Line, but it's a lot easier when there's four of you with luggage and the fact that it was also the morning peak so the deep tube would have been a bit crowded...
Our chariot to Birmingham International was 390 005, and as we pulled out I noted 86 101 on the front of the Sleeper Highlander empties. AT Camden there were a number of 319s in the sidings to the left; 319 005, 319 433 and 319 219 - so three different sub classes side by side! There was the usual collection of locomotives at Wembley, including the Pullman liveried 67s but I only noted four in total thanks to a freight being parked in the way of everything else - as is often the case at such a busy location. Those four being 66 185, 92 036, 67 021 and 67 024. As usual, 57 305 was the Rugby Thunderbird and that was all I noted on the way.
I planned an hour's connection time at International to give time for some snacks and with the intention of making things more relaxed, but it soon became obvious that the Cambrian train was being displayed as two cars only although it was at least showing on time. That indication of only two cars, though, was a bit niggling. We headed down to the platform a few minutes before the inbound arrived - and shortly after the sight of 150 229 approaching confirmed my suspicion that we would be changing trains at Shrewsbury. Needless to say, all the reservations were out of the window as well. *sigh*
On to Shrewsbury, all change please, here's 158 824 + 158 840 waiting for us all - with all the carriage letters in the wrong units and, of course, no reservations in place. *grinds teeth* At least the sight of my wife producing her white stick soon ensured we had a bay of four seats together... Just outside the station were two of the converted 37s, 97 302 and 97 304.
The rest of the journey was an uneventful scenery-fest - and this being the Cambrian is a good excuse to include a few non-railway photos in the below selection, all taken from on board the 158 except of course for the 319s at Camden which were taken from the 390.

Obviously with this being Porthmadog there was quite a lot of railway interest for the evening of the day of our arrival and the subsequent days! Aside from the regular images of narrow gauge stuff being obtained, we did do a quick "there and back" to Pwlhelli on the 9th, with 158 829, just to get the track in. On the 11th we walked to Criccieth and returned on 158 818. The 12th saw a trip on the Welsh Highland Railway to Caernarfon and back, grabbing both Garrets for haulage ( 138 and 143 ) while the 13th was a visit to the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway.

There is not a lot to report from the journey home!
We left Porthmadog on board 158 831 and at Machynlleth 158 827 was added. This time we changed at Birmingham New Street, again with an hour's break, making sure we continued on a train which started there so as to allow a relaxed boarding time. This was 390 042 and on the journey back to London 66 130 and 86 259 were seen at Rugby and 66 542 at Bletchley.
Wembley / Willesden was more productive this time without a load of containers blocking the view and the tally here was 66 221, 66 416, 66 135, 66 585, 66 075, 66 164, 90 005 and 710 105. Once again we avoided the deep tube and returned via 21331 + 21 332 to Edgware Road and then 21403 + 21404 to Wimbledon for 456 014 + 455 862 + 455 737 onwards to Epsom.
I did not attempt any photography on the way back as it was a rather grey and wet day, but that gives me an opportunity to use this post to complete the selection of pictures from the week.
It would not be until 9th September that I ventured out again, so with this post I have now made up four months of the backlog of reports, so we are almost half way through the catch up operation...
