I might be in Italy over summer, and was wondering what sort of stock runs on the Regional lines?

Specifically I'm staying in the San-Vincenzo area, and I'm probably going to be catching trains to Pisa and Florence (Firenze), I was wondering whether the stock is air conditioned, and whether there's some interesting LHCS services in the area?

Many thanks in advance

Hi there, have travelled a few times between Pisa and Florence, think nowadays it tends to be more modern double decker trains (with air con). However, there is certainly still enough loco hauled regional stock about and some interesting DMUs from Florence on regional lines heading towards Faenza.

Most medium to longer regional stuff is hauled (E464 Traxx MLV), still some diesels (D445) around Florence to Sienna and Borgo. Air-con or fresh air doesn’t make any difference as all the locos are dull as dishwater.

There’s also some interesting diesel railcars kicking about - sat in the drivers cab of one traveling around the lakes. There was two together and we sat inbetween which was pretty good!
