Issues In Liverpool Area Wednesday 23rd September

Does anyone have any information on the cause of numerous service cancellations using the CLC line between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester between 06.00 and 08.00 on Wednesday 23rd September.

Lots of services were cancelled or rerouted and the reason for the disruption was given as being due to a signal box being closed. Some earlier services were not impacted so was wondering what type of issue this was.

The 06.17 northern service left on time but was then stuck for a large amount of time after leaving South Parkway.

Warrington Central day shift signaller didn’t turn up. Night shift signaller agreed to stay till 0700 but needed relief
Thank you makes sense.

Assume a signaller was found to cover as looks like services resumed after about 1hr of none at all.

Didn’t realise the Warrington Signal box was still used, are there any plans to move to the centre at Manchester?

I might be wrong but I think Warrington box also controls movements to/from sidings outside Warrington Central for services that terminate at Warrington and need to swap platforms.
