Three platforms are out of action at Birmingham's New Street, the BBC understands, as services face cancellation or major alterations due to signalling problems that are expected to last much of the day

Services between Wolverhampton and Birmingham International have been suspended.

Many services are starting starting from and terminating at Wolverhampton, including services from Shrewsbury and north/mid Wales.

Can' imagine what rush hour will be like

It sounds like local services aren't being affected, judging from that. However, the Shrewsbury services are often really busy at rush hour, so I expect the locals to Wolverhampton to be busier than usual.

The 0820 Wolves-Brum was packed with passengers from the Arriva service that would have been the 0811 Wolves-International, which terminated early at Wolves. I sure hope they can resolve this by the evening rush, or the local stoppers will be a nightmare.

Let's hope so as National Rail Enquiries are saying the problem is expected until the end of the day

"Ongoing points problems at New St results in platform 1+2 only accessed from the North End. All TOCs but XC TOCs have thinned out services to accommodate, with Virgin, London Midland, ATW and XC accepting tickets between BHM-BHI."

I'm sure I read somewhere it happend last night and no staff available to fix.

Am I right in thinking that the signals are due to be replaced during the Christmas shutdown anyway?

It wasn't a lack of staff, fault required access which would have closed way more than 3 platforms so therefore decided to undertake overnight.
