Morning!
Not looking for advice here really (unless I end up in the Disputes forum as a result of this journey…!), but thought it might be of interest.
I went to collect my train ticket (bought through Avanti) this morning at Manchester Piccadilly (for the Euston train) - off peak return.
Upon entering the collection code in my app, it said ‘invalid collection code’… strange, never had this happen before, so I went to the (thankfully empty) ticket office to try and resolve the issue.
They couldn’t work it out either, and as their helpdesk is closed til 8am, have now issued me with an ‘ATT’, whatever one of those is, and now I need to head to the ticket office at Euston when I arrive to try and sort it out for my return.
NOW, since boarding the train, I’ve logged onto ‘My Account’ on Avanti, and the collection code is different to the one which is being shown in my app(?!)…
I wonder why that is?!
Anyway, two thoughts currently going through my mind:
1) As a customer who is vaguely familiar with the railway, BUT who works in a customer-facing commercial business , I don’t understand why they couldn’t a) see my ticket purchase online and/or b) just print one off for me rather than having to produce an ATT.
2) I hope the guard on the train is understanding of the situation!!!
