Right this morning iwas getting ready to take my driving test when i was rang up and told that my test had been cancelled because the examiner had to take a sudden leave of absence.

So it's pretty likely that it's gonna be resheduled for like a month away.

Pretty stupid eh???

Depends... examiner could have thought, "*yawn*, can't be arsed to go to work" and called in sick = pretty stupid, maybe...

Or a relative could have gone into hospital or something.... not so stupid...

Although I suppose they could have looked for another examiner for you.

You would've thought there was another spare examiner that could've done it, surely they must expect things like this to happen now & again? So what they gonna do, every time someone goes sick, or has leave of absence for whatever reason etc., they're gonna call pupil/s & tell them 'sorry, your test is cancelled, come back next month'?

See that's what I thought I just think it's dumb hjow because that person wasn't available now I have to wait even longer till I can drive but it's not the examiner that has annoyed me it's the centre's inability to sort it out.

I know how nervous you feel just before a driving exam, and so you must really hate this.
It is a shame there wasn't a standby examiner, but good luck for when you retake :D

I would expect that, like a lot of employers, staff have been cut to the numbers where there just aren't any spare examiners sat around waiting for someone to go off sick.

Good luck! Reminds me that I really must get my bike test sorted asap before the new bike tests are brought in!

At least you don't have to wait too long. My driving instructor for when I did my test last year once told me they had to wait a whole month for their retest! It would be very annoying as there are better times to do your driving test than others. I timed mine very well!

yeah I see your point, I suppose the only problem is that the test is at 8 so i will have to have my pre-test lesson at about 7 but can't win everytime.
