As per the thread title: I've had a TPE smart card for a while and have just bought a flexi season for my next few weeks of travel between York and Leeds. There is now no option via TPE's website to fulfill this ticket to a smart card, it is only available as an sTicket. Well, I can cope with that but would rather use my smart card to avoid problems with phone failure, lack of battery etc. Is TPE doing away with smart cards and is this a policy more generally across the industry? I can't see anything on their website about this, it still suggests that you should obtain a smart card before buying a season ticket.

GA have been heavily pushing flexi-season tickets which aren't available as sTickets on their own app, so it doesn't seem to be an industry thing.

I can get the GA app to fulfill York to Leeds (Northern Only and Any Permitted) on a smartcard. Which retailer are you using?

I was using the TPE website. I just had a go on the TPE app and I can't see any option other than sTicket there either.
