Is there a clear set of rules on the order in which trains are shown in a timetable?
The special 27 July timetable for EMR Nottingham-Derby-Matlock shows trains Nottingham-Derby and Derby-Matlock, ordered by their start time from their origin. But that results in "negative connections" at Derby - eg arriving at 1541 in one column, with the next column showing a departure for Matlock at 1533. My instinct is that I would expect to see connections between two services dictating the order in which trains are listed. I've just checked the PDF of a (now-expired) Table 56 and that indeed is the convention used for that.
Have EMR got this wrong, or is it up to the compiler to choose their own orthodoxy?
