Is there a station near Norwich, with fast non-stop services passing through?

Hey, I couldn't find much on Google.

Please could you tell me the name of / the location of a station which is *the closest to Norwich Railway Station, AND has fast trains which do not stop such as Voyagers/HSTs/350s/Pendolinos*? I would also appreciate it if you could tell me the rough times at which the fast trains pass through, *only if you can*. I just need to film some for a school safety video project, and the deadline is creeping up on me.

I tried a good Google search, and didn't find any maps etc. I'm sure you have some schedules or maps, so if you could kindly do the above I would really appreciate it.

All help appreciated. Sorry if I sound patronising, this was copied off a message to someone, and I really need this by tomorrow.

What's the actual question?

The first station out of Norwich (heading west) is Wymondham. Trains to Liverpool do not call here and pass through at frequent intervals. But I do not know how fast they are travelling. Drivers & Guards who sign that route on this forum will know, as will permanent way and other staff in the area.

Is there a particular speed you are looking for trains to be doing?

That's it. Just a station closest to me so it is convenient, where trains to not call. Many thanks, but I will wait till I confirm trains travel at high speeds there. I suppose minimum 60mph or above.

PTSO or platform depending on the weather
Trying to get my head around this...there are no Voyagers, HST's, 350's or Pendolinos that go to Norwich to my knowledge- the fast trains are usually Class 90 and hauled stock and I think they all stop at the stations before Norwich on the main line (i.e. Diss, Stowmarket)

If you want high speed-looking trains, your closest station is probably going to be somewhere like Needham Market. This is on the mainline between Ipswich and Norwich, with trains passing through on the main Norwich - London line as well as through from Ipswich - Cambridge/Peterborough. (Note only the latter ones stop at Needham Market, so you will most likely need to travel from Norwich-Ipswich and then Ipswich-Needham Market if you are wanting to access the station by train)

The times are freely available online from a few sites - here is an example one below.

Simply change the date and location, and ensure the "Services?" column is set to "Passes Only" and it will show you the trains that are scheduled to go through without stopping.

Others will probably have their own suggestions, but if you want to film from a station rather than the lineside and want passing trains of HST speed standards you would probably have to go as far as Peterborough or Huntingdon.
No need for any times, as fast trains are quite frequent at both locations (although it's worth noting that few of them stop at Huntingdon, so that might be better if it's not too far).

The linespeed in 2002 was 75mph for those trains heading West from Norwich, as can be seen in this video.

Thanks for your reply. I wasn't clear in my post sorry, any fast train at least 60mph, and the name of the station it passes through closest to Norwich Station is all I want. Because the train may pass through other stations, preferably the closest one to me. Sorry to be expectant, but I have to go by foot at any cost. :( if possible. Take your time I appreciate the help :)

Wymondham is your best bet closest to Norwich.

The line speed is still 75 mph, so you should get the hourly class 158 East Midlands services passing reasonably quickly.

And you can retire to the excellent refreshment rooms while waiting.

Wow thanks so much for that. I knew a site like that existed.

surely not? Cycling may be viable but not walking. Can you not use someone else's video, with attribution? are you a school student?

It's a long story. Yes I am a school student but am in holidays. I am happy to walk anyway, that's fine. But can we confirm that user @306024's post is correct? Sorry.

I've got quite a few videos that I'd be ok for you to use, and of HSTs, Voyagers, pendos and 350s. These will mostly be from the other side of the country though! PM me if you're interested

Trains pass through Wymondham non-stop at about 5 to the hour and 7 past the hour.
Another option for a station fairly close to Norwich is Brundall Gardens, same amount of trains as Wymondham though another train appears at 8am and 7pm.
Trains pass through Brundall Gardens at either 4 mins and 12 mins past, and 24 minutes past.

Hope this helped.
