I guess a company train is much more of an American thing where the freight operators tend to have a train for executives to travel around their network on. Probably went out of favour when EWS was sold to DB.
It’s certainly ran a few times since then, but, in more recent times was used to woo company executives aspiring for contracts instead. However, it hasn’t always gone to plan; there was a time a few years ago when DB tried to go for one of the south west aggregates contracts, and ran down into Devon. Upon passing Exeter Riverside yard, they were keen to point out one of the services DB Operated for said company… until they passed the loco which turned out to be a subcontracted Colas hire in job. Oops.
Regarding the comments on that Flickr picture about it being for sale - has anyone actually seen it on the DB Disposals list? I’ve probably missed it, but I don’t recall it being on there?
