All this talk of strikes I hear makes me wonder.....Is the grass really greener? I have wanted to become a train driver for ages and have my heart set on it but all this I hear about strikes and unions etc. As a Tram driver earning about 25k I am by no means on the bones of my arse but I am hoping to make the leap from light to heavy but is it worth all the hassle? I am not just doing it for the money but more the honour of getting a job which is hard to get.

Basically is the future of train driving bleak or is it a career I should continue to strive towards?

You should only really be stressed if you were becoming a guard. If you don't mind doing a little bit of work with the outdoor camera (whatever it's called) for DOO, then you should be fine. Just breathe! :)
