Kind of. I got in touch with the manager, who kept me updated as to when a vacancy was opening up.

Thanks for this Scotsman. I did email TOC #1 at the end.of October whomsent me a reply that I was "definitely in the pipeline" and that whatwould happen depended on "events in December" when "numbers would be finalised". I am privately hoping that the anouncement two days ago which has caused a lot of debate here re provision of extra units and "capacity increase" is the good news allowing for a call up sooner than later.

Folks -- experiences shared and timescales given much appreciated. When I called my "3 months a battle" I meant only in that Id done a lot of forms, tests, group exercises etc etc etc and seemed to be a lot in a relatively short timespan. I can appreciate that callups can take upto a year and am prepared for that --- though fervently praying for sooner than later as my current road job is immensely stressful and would like to leave it asap.

Don't worry about it too much mate........I'm sure It'll happen eventually!.....It's very rarely a smooth road to a job on the railway.......in terms of timescales it's probably best to hope for the best but prepare for a bit of a wait......but once again don't worry if you do have a wait it is perfectly normal.

Duly noted red2005. I think having two consecutive knocks TOCs #2 and #3 [2 was a sham, but 3 was very thorough, disappointed about that] got to me, but the hope TOC #1 and their franchise extension does remain. We shall see.

CromptonLad, I prefer not to reveal my TOC but reading between the lines of what you've put here, on other threads, and listed as your location it's not your TOC #3.

More friendly advice, you will be very identifiable to HR peeps from what you've posted here; is 'God help them' something you'd want them to see?

Bellbell: Have reviewed said post. Haven't tried to cover or delete it. Have left a little explanation.

Might have come across as catty. Wasn't intended. More an 'if the really busy situation happened again, the situation could get quite overwhelming."

Yup it is very soul destroying and disheartening at times that is for sure i have definitely been there myself and i bet most on these boards have too he he he.

the best thing you can do is keep plugging away and jump through the hoops they tell you and you're time will come eventually.

remember as well mate...yes you are eager to get into the job and out of your current employment but it is best to just go with the flow for your own sanity if nothing else mate. It is a stressful recruitment process from start to finish as it is but if you get too desperate for the job you'll end up putting more pressure on yourself in the testing/interview environment and it won't do you any favours (2 fails only remember) (sorry to sound like i'm on a downer) just don't wanna see your enthusiasm work against you that's all mate.

you'll get more joy by relaxing, taking your time, doing your research and just letting nature take it's course by doing those 3 things alone you will probably wipe out a major chunk of the competition as you'd be surprised how many go for the job without preparing properly or just trying to wing their way through the recruitment process.

Hi folks,

Just got my third rejection from a TOC for staff today. Third in three months from three separate TOCs. Is it worth continuing trying to find a job or really, am I just not worth it?

How many times did it take people to finally get 'on board'?

Keep trying mate! Persistence is the key! And it is worth it when you get there!
