Between Tottenham Hale and Clapton Junction, where the Temple Mills lines diverge towards Stratford.
Thanks in advance.

Sources seem to vary. Could well be either.

Also, is the remaining junction with this name in the local area "Coppermill North Junction"?

Contemporary sources, for example Realtime Trains, give Coppermill Junction. I have a 2001 Sectional Appendix that also gives Coppermill Junction.

But this is a relatively recent change. The board on the old manual signal box is clearly "COPPER MILL JUNCTION", and it appears as Copper Mill Junction in the Pre Grouping Atlas and the early editions of Baker Atlas.

Who changed it, when, and why?

It’s called Coppermill Junction because it’s at the end of Coppermill Lane in Walthamstow. Coppermill Lane has had that spelling for at least the last 40 years, to my knowledge.

It does not follow that, because Walthamstow call the nearby thoroughfare Coppemill Lane, that the Junction should spell the same.

A counter example is Coldham Lane Junction in Cambridge, which retains its Great Eastern Railway spelling although the nearby thoroughfare has been called Coldham's Lane for much longer than 40 years.

Changing the spelling of Copper Mill Junction is trashing Great Eastern Railway history!

Which name came first in this area of Walthamstow? The roadway, the railway junction, the stream, or more likely the Victorian-era copper mill itself, which was previously the site of a gunpowder mill (and was once a paper mill, a linseed oil mill, a corn mill and at one time a leather mill, not necessarily in that order)?

NLS maps throughout 20th century seem to consistently use the one word “Coppermill“ for the adjacent watercourse and its bridges, with 2 words used for the nearby junction. Probably just the railway being different as usual…

It's very common for railway facilities to have a different spelling of a name from that shown for a nearby road or place on present-day non-railway maps.

Then there's the mistakes, for some time Cross Gates had a mix of correct and incorrect 'Crossgates' signs. https://en-academic.com/pictures/enwiki/67/Cross_Gate_station_signage2.jpg

Middlesbrough has sometimes gained an extra 'o' too. https://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detai...dlesbrough-news-photo/639322784?adppopup=true
