Fred has been getting a lot of stick recently just for being excitable - why start a thread like this because he thinks 73s and units are hellfire? He's just acting his age and shouldn't be targetted because his maturity isn't yet on a par with young adults'. Its fairer just to ignore his irrelevant comments than to bully him.

An opinion Loader and I both share, which is unusual!
I will give Mr. 5872 a chance to show me why he counts 73s and units 'hellfire' should I ever meet him, but the fact of the matter is there's nothing about them to 'thrash' and they can't clag, two major factors in determining if something is hellfire!
Might as well say 442s are hellfire if you're going to say a 455 is hellfire...

If their traction motors catch alight they are definately some form of fire
However, on a more serious note, 73's on diesel power can have some good thrash, especially when hauling a load. They have pretty much the same EE unit as a Thumper and they can be very loud and very claggy when they haven't been used, which by all accounts do then fall into the "HellFire!" discription used by many younger Railfans these days. If they are running on the juice then my farts are more hellfire
