Is "hellfire" far too overused??

OK recently I've been getting quite annoyed at the sheer amount of times the word hellfire has been used to describe videos or photos of something that's, well, just not hellfire.

Does anyone else find this even remotely annoying?
Yes I use the word but I don't use it to describe 7 and a half minute videos of constant processions of 450s or any other unit crap.

Thoughts?

Yep it is pretty annoying, particularly when you spend time looking through photos or a video when it has been branded hellfire but clearly isn't!

Such phrases are always going to be subjective. I only really use them flippantly.

If something is hellfire it is either, making a beastly sound (that 73's don't make) and producing a lot of clag. Nothing can be hellfire if it's not a beast of a loco. When I hear that, the locos that come to mind are mainly 37s, 40s, 20s, Certain 43s (The one that smoked out Gasworks tunnel recently with JsT onboard), 50s, 14s, Westerns, and the BVE Class 27. If I missed out any good diesels, then I appologise for that.

I too am getting sick of this, saying that a bit of Plaz called a 450 or a 444 is "hellfire"

The first part is your OPINION, but you state it as fact.........:roll:

Its all down to personal opinion to say what is hellfire or not. I mean, I for example find 319s rather hellfire yet no one else agrees. Doesn't bother me as its my opinion. But as felt that its my opinion, I will call them hellfire If I want to.

This doesn't stop at units though. As I find 37s hellfire yet Sulzer type locos not as hellfire and in some cases not at all. Whereas others find it the opposite!

I find that 319s are loud and I find them a decent ride. But others don't agree with that which is fine as everyone's taste is different.

Important point there - people should chill out and just be themselves.

That said, there are bigger things to worry about in life than if people misuse informal terms. Somebody complained on Trains the other day because someone who regularly sent St Neots sightings used all capital letters in the titles. See I recon thrash is a good word and has alway's been Hellfire is overused it's sadly enough become the buzz word at the moment.
I consider the follwoing better.

And on another note why don't a few choice memebers back off fred at the end of the day he's trying to contribute and do what he enjoy's doing and doesn't need shooting down in the manner in which you did.
