My journey today is Cheam to worthing

Journey planners are only offering me tickets via Clapham Junction
Normally i avoid by going via selhurst but today there's engineering works which means Journey planners are only offering me tickets via clj.

Also as per Journey planners the latest train I can get is the 6.08pm from cheam.

Surely is not right?
And can I get my usual not via clj ticket and use it there as engineering works?

Thanks

What engineering work? It is still possible to go via Selhurst today if you want, although journey planners may not show it if it is not the quickest route.

Have you considered Cheam - Dorking - walk to Dorking Deepdene - Gatwick - Worthing?

Im not actually sure what engineering works it is!

If there's none it is strange that only cia clj route is being shown and strange that I cant get a train past 6pm!

Usually the planners show all 3 routes, via clj, via selhurst and via Dorking.

I try to avoid dorking route as the GWR train is not very reliable.

We are not doing that; we are offering plenty of itineraries avoiding CLJ:

Also as per Journey planners the latest train I can get is the 6.08pm from cheam.
Our itineraries go up to 2238, arriving 0128.

If you are using a TOC journey planner, then you will get poorer results than the forum's site.

The cheapest route is via Dorking, on a combination of tickets. Train companies don't want people to know about itineraries that involve a combination of tickets.

There is no official acceptance encoded in the journey planning data, however you can legitimately travel via CLJ for only about £1 more than the through fare, by using our ticketing site, which identifies a "split" at Three Bridges.

If you particularly want a through ticket, then it's down to the discretion of staff; it used to be the case that you were entitled to the excess and nothing more, however these days you could in theory be more harshly treated for using a route restricted ticket via a restricted location. This is typical of the rail industry's negative outlook towards passengers, who are seen as an inconvenience to the running of the service.
