IRO Degree

Just wondered if there is anyone that has completed the IRO degree course ?
Or if any one has completed any academic course with them?
I am interested in the degree course and the cost seems reasonable.
Has anyone had any dealings with this ?

Yes I've completed both the Diploma and Degree courses, part funded by my employer. In terms of its value I guess it's like any degree in that it gives you a broad understanding of the subject (railway operations) and it looks good on the CV. I'm not convinced that it gives you any particular edge when it comes to applying for jobs and I have my own views on how well I found the course to be run (and indeed the general relevance of the IRO but that's probably for another time), but generally I found it enjoyable enough to complete and I'd say it's worthwhile.

I have also completed the course although I've not alplied for any roles since graduating. I did move companies halfway through, however, and the recruiters seemed pretty interested in it. I ended up getting the job but I can't put it solely down to the course.

It is also quicker and cheaper than doing an equivalent OU course, but you have to be prepared to put a lot of work in as you would expect for a degree. Overall I am glad I did it (I self funded as well on the interest free plan) and would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about the railway who is prepared to put the work in.
