I think the Irizar ie tram is the best electric bus I've been on so far and IMO comes close to a tram like experience. The VDL Citea electric buses are very good and I've ridden on many of them but I think the Irizar is preferable. I took several rides in Amiens on their new BRT system. It was exceptionally quiet and had lightening acceleration. Even though the seats were not upholstered the ride was very smooth and comfortable. Looks good as well.

I think it looks stupid. What's the harm in a bus looking like a bus? It's operating it well (so not like typically in the UK) that is important.

In Amiens bus operation is close to textbook, at least on the BRT routes. They use compulsory off bus ticketing with ticket machines at main stops. High level of segregation, particularly for such a modest sized city. Widespread use of traffic light priority. The main criticism would be the poor Sunday frequencies.

The Swiss city of Schaffhausen has put in a fairly substantial order for these.
